HAROLD W. AMES
CLARKSVILLE - Harold W. Ames, 65, of Spring Hill, Fla.., formerly of Clarksville and Colonie, died May 11, (1993) of Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was born in Albany on July 17, 1927, the son of Viola and the late Mosher Ames. He moved to Clarksville in 1934, and lived there until 1952, when he moved to Colonie.
Ames was a former employee of Marsh Hallman Chevrolet and DePaula Chevrolet. "His love of people, sense of humor and honesty contributed to his success in sales," according to his wife, Elaine.
Before moving to Colonie, he was an active member of the Onesquethaw Fire Company in Clarksville, and a former battallion (sic) chief. He was also a member of the Colonie lodge of Elks.
He is survived by his wife Elaine (Sipperley) Ames of Spring Hill; his mother, Viola Ames of Rexford (Saragota Co.); a sister Evelyn Moyle of Rexford; a brother Clayton Ames of Las Vagas, Nev.; three daughters, Sharon Collins of Scotia, Brenda Hayes of Hudson Falls and Beth DeLyke of Duanesburg; a step-son, James Byers of Rensselaer; a step-daughter, Carol Sipel of Clearwater, FLa.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial contributiions my be made to the ALS Regional Center, St. Peter's Hospital, 315 South Manning Blvd., Albany NY 12208.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
